The BID may be able to access funding for this however need to have an update of whether East Street businesses support it.

The BID is in favour - we see the benefits as:
increase covid social distancing
enable space for a weekly or monthly outdoor market (a priority for the street traders in their recent street meeting)
create a more attractive place for shopping which is less deomiated by buses (but still allowing the same number of buses to pass through)
test some of the ideas in the longer-term, wider vision exercise to improve East Street as a place to shop and dwell (currenlty only 10% of shoppers wish to stop on East Street preferring to shop and leave all too quickly)
This initial funding would not enable the whole street to be implemented, rather to test it in some specific sections of the street (in particularly on junctions and near and adjacent to hospitality businesses).
