A must-go for interiors lovers from Bristol and beyond, Mon Pote has been open for three glorious years having first opened back in April 2016. The shop’s friendly atmosphere reflects its name, translating to ‘my friend’ from the French original, an ambience which founder Anna Clements’ calm nature undoubtedly adds to.
Hailing from nearby Cardiff, Anna moved to Bristol after landing a job here in 2005. With a passion for design-led interiors and a desire to own her own business, she opened Mon Pote and hasn’t looked back since. Her interest in good design is evident not just by the product she sells, but also by the aesthetics of the store itself which draw on Scandinavian influences.
‘Once you come to Bristol, you don’t leave’ she jokes as she tells of some of her favourites in the city including the Cargo development, Leigh Woods and, of course, the BS3 community. Anna has loved being a part of an area which places such a value on shopping independently, locally and ethically and explains that the community and customers are what make being a trader on North Street so special.
She has been proud of making it onto the pages of the interiors magazines of the journalists she admires and also by being approached by Trouva to be a part of its independent collective of boutiques shortly after opening. The future is certainly looking bright for Mon Pote as Anna promises to keep bringing customers more of what they love and to continue enjoying being a wonderful addition to BS3.
