Are you a Bristol resident? Are you interested in the environment and renewable energy? Would you like to learn about the opportunities for integrating solar technology and art into buildings to generate electrical energy from sunlight? Would you like to have your say in re-imagining Bristol for the renewable energy transition?
You are invited to join us for a creative co-design workshop as part of the UWE Bristol project Towards Solar Facades as Participatory Public Art in partnership with Upfest and BIPVco. The project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), under the Design Accelerator scheme (Grant Ref: AH/X003574/1).
The workshop belongs to a series of events aimed at creating with the local community visual concepts for integrating solar photovoltaics into facades of existing buildings in the Bedminster area.
The designs will be displayed in a two-week public exhibition at the Tobacco Factory this summer.
The creative workshop will provide information on solar facades research by the project lead Dr Eleonora Nicoletti and will be facilitated by five Bristol artists:
Andy Council / Bex Glover / Dave Bain / Elaine Carr / Luke Palmer (Acerone)
The workshop will be hosted by Upfest at the Tobacco Factory and will take place in the Snug on Sunday the 25th of June.
The workshop will last up to 1 hour and 15 minutes, during which you can:
Learn about the opportunities for the building integration of solar photovoltaics
Gain insights about street art directly from prominent Bristol artists
Engage in group discussions around the visual design of solar facades for Bristol, and have your say on the topic
See the artists at work
To find out more about what participating in the workshop entails, please read the Participant Information Sheet and UWE Bristol Privacy Notice.
You will need to be over 18 and live in Bristol to join the workshop.
