The Big Bemmie Banquet Draws Near

The Big Bemmie Banquet draws near!

On August 20th a special kind of event will take place on North Street, as Hebron Road to Cannon Street is closed for the Big Bemmie Banquet. All are invited to come and take part in this special community feast as local traders and pop up restaurants will serve up a delicious array of food and drink for all to enjoy.

However, this is no ordinary banquet as 500 meals will be served up for free,  as part of a wider initiative to honour the hard work and dedication of some of the areas’ unsung heroes and the BID are asking people to nominate those who they feel deserves a seat at the table this weekend.

Local restaurants and food traders Burger Joint, Margot May, The Steam Crane, Viva La Mexicana, Lounge, Lucilles, The Old Butchers, The Old Bookshop, El Rincon, The Ice Cream Box and North Street Standard will all be taking part in this community event, with each accepting special free meal vouchers from those who have been nominated.

Tasty treats such as fresh paella, juicy burgers, Jamaican, South American and Thai inspired cuisine, amazing ice cream, milkshakes and authentic Mexican food will be available; as a diverse offering of delicious delights will tantalise the tastebuds of those in attendance. There will also be two stages of live music and entertainment, programmed by Ben Gatt of The Old Butchers and The Old Bookshop, which live sets from Moscow Drug Club, Soul Strutters and Ruzz Guitar & Friends; alongside family friendly drumming workshops, Zumba sessions and more.

The Big Bemmie Banquet will serve to close out the summer in style, as it looks to bring together residents and traders of the area for the final fling of the season.  But the Big Bemmie Banquet isn’t just for invited guests; everyone is welcome to attend this foodie spectacular and visitors can even be in with a chance of winning free meal tickets on the day.

However this event isn’t just for a few of people, everyone is welcome to come on down and there’ll be plenty of food and fun for all. So we invite everyone across Bristol to join us for what promises to be a very special day"

The BID team are still actively seeking nominations, so if you know someone who works tirelessly for the benefit of others, then please email events@bedminster.org.uk to make your nomination for this Sunday and be sure to follow the Bedminster BID on Facebook and Twitter for all the news and updates related to the celebrations.
